Practice Profile

Byron is a general practitioner with an emphasis on criminal litigation. He has an extensive criminal practice involving both trial and appellate work in the Court of Final Appeal, the High Court (Magistracy Appeal), the District Court and the Magistracies (both as Counsel-on-fiat and Defence Counsel).  

His experience in civil law practice includes rural representative election matters and advising on contractual disputes, personal injury and matrimonial matters.

Byron is a Founding Member and the Deputy Head of Chambers.

HKSAR v Lew Mon Hung (2019) 22 HKCFAR 159

  • Led by Mr. Joseph Tse S.C. for the Appellant who had been convicted of doing acts with intent to pervert the course of justice.  Leave was granted to appeal to the Court of Final Appeal and the appeal hearing was heard in May 2019.

Secretary for Justice v Chan Chi Wan (2017) 20 HKCFAR 98

  • Led by Mr. Joseph Tse S.C. for the 1st Appellant who had been convicted of conspiracy for an agent to accept an advantage.  The appeal was allowed and the conviction was quashed.

  • Led by the late Mr. Alexander King S.C. for the 1stDefendant in a preliminary inquiry.
