Practice Profile

Nydia joined Chambers upon successful completion of her pupillage with Mr. Martin Hui S.C., Mr. Kenneth Lam, Mr. Tony Ko and Mr. Joseph Lee. She is currently developing a broad mixed practice that encompasses both civil and criminal law, and accepts instructions across all areas of Chambers’ work.

Nydia has appeared before various levels of Courts in Hong Kong, including the High Court, District Court, Family Court and Magistrates’ Courts, either as sole advocate in her own right or as a led junior.

In her civil practice, Nydia has worked on litigation and advisory matters across a wide spectrum of areas. She has experience in handling contentious matters relating to administrative and public law, arbitration, contract and commercial, company, defamation, disciplinary proceedings, employment, family and matrimonial, injunctive relief, insolvency, personal injuries, land and property, trusts, wills and probate etc. Additionally, she has worked on applications for the enforcement of arbitral awards in the High Court.

In her criminal practice, Nydia has engaged in a wide range of defence work involving both general and white-collar crimes. She is adept at conducting and assisting in trials, conducting mitigation and applications for bail/ bail variation, making representations regarding O.N.E. Bindover application and plea bargain to the Department of Justice. Further, she has experience in attending urgent legal visits to individuals under investigation or detained at various facilities, including police stations, the Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre, correctional institutions, court cells, and the Enforcement Division of the Immigration Department.

Nydia graduated with a double degree in the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Government and Laws) and Bachelor of Laws at The University of Hong Kong. Prior to commencing law school, she served as a marshal to the Honourable Mr. Justice Kevin Zervos, who is now Justice of Appeal of the Court of Appeal. During her legal studies, she went on an international exchange at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), focusing on Comparative Human Rights. Prior to commencing pupillage, she served as a marshal to Recorder Mr. Martin Hui S.C. of the Court of First Instance of the High Court.

Fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin (both written and spoken), Nydia is proficient in providing written submissions in both English and Chinese (simplified and traditional) and is capable of conducting hearings and clients’ conferences in all three languages.

In her first year of practice, Nydia has been recognized by Pro Bono HK for her dedication to pro bono legal services. She has provided assistance and attended legal clinics in various areas of law, including contractual disputes, torts, matrimonial matters, probate issues, and criminal cases. Additionally, Nydia represented the Hong Kong Bar Association as a delegate at the International Bar Association Annual Conference 2025 held in Toronto, Canada.

As the inaugural Founding President of the Government and Laws Committee of the University of Hong Kong, Nydia is also committed to legal education. She is a Volunteer Lawyer for the LLAW3148 Clinical Legal Education Programme at the University of Hong Kong. She currently serves as a moot coach for the LLAW3187 Mooting and Dispute Resolution Course at the University of Hong Kong for the academic year 2025-2026 and acts as a moot judge in the annual Compulsory Moot Programme 2026, which engages over 200 students at the High Court. Additionally, she has delivered talks and seminars on various legal topics at an international school under English Schools Foundation (ESF) in Hong Kong.
